![]() As a Sales Manager, Teresa Wojcik’s workday is never dull. She crosses paths with many different people every day and is able to touch their lives in a positive way. Each morning, she meets one-on-one with each of her agents, reviewing their goals, helping them focus their activities, and motivating them toward success. It’s the personal touch that Teresa enjoys, sharing her knowledge and experience, and fostering their professional development. Later, she’ll go on joint field calls with an agent, talking with clients in their homes and learning their stories. Every client has a unique story the young newlyweds planning their future, the single parent looking for the financial means to send a child to college, the retiree who needs a guaranteed income, or the grandmother who wants to leave a legacy for her heirs. Teresa helps them crystallize their goals and designs a financial solution to meet those goals. “Life insurance sales provides so much satisfaction. I meet and work with wonderful people, and many have become my friends. I have the privilege of helping them secure their futures, while earning a good income myself.” Teresa earned an engineering degree from the University of Lublin, in her native Poland, and worked as an engineer for several years. But when she and her family emigrated to the U.S. in 1994, a career change also ensued. She worked briefly for a printing company but yearned for a more fulfilling career with greater opportunity. She attended a job fair in Chicago and met a District Sales Manager from The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company (Western & Southern) who convinced her to take the qualification test. Now, after 12 years with Western & Southern (eight years as a Sales Representative and four years as Sales Manager), Teresa remains convinced she made the best decision and that other women can also achieve success in this industry. “I chose Western & Southern because it is one of the best insurance companies, with excellent products for our clients, and competitive benefits for our associates. Life insurance has been a very rewarding career for me.” Teresa continues, “In my opinion, life insurance sales is a solid career opportunity for women because it offers many rewards, both monetarily and emotionally. You meet so many good people, women whose stories you can relate to. Women understand other people’s problems, and they are friendly. They have the self-discipline to be constant in their work, and they have the patience to work hard and learn and stick to their plan. And that results in a very good income.” When she began, Teresa had no insurance experience, but she applied herself to learning everything she needed – from prospecting to product information to conducting a sales call. She took all the training Western & Southern offered, including training specifically for new agents. She also participated in the numerous courses offered at her agency. Over time, she continued her education with Western & Southern’s courses for veteran agents, advanced markets, and life underwriters. Teresa adds, “And I had a great mentor, Casey Baczynski, who shared his knowledge and experience with me. He showed me how successful I could become. Now I pass that on to my agents.” Teresa is an empty-nester now and has renewed her dedication to her customers and her team of Sales Representatives. Her success speaks for itself. She has qualified for a Western & Southern sales convention every year. She has received the Brouse International Management Insurance Award, as well as numerous sales awards. In 2005, she was nominated as the No. 4 Sales Manager in the company. “At Western & Southern, management recognizes and rewards your hard work. The company provides excellent training and sales support. They give you the tools for success.” |
