WSLife.com Again Earns The Customer Respect Group's No. 1 Ranking in the Life Insurance Industry
In its Fourth Quarter 2009 Online Customer Respect Study of Life Insurance Industry Web Sites, the Customer Respect
Group ranked WSLife.com No. 1 in the life insurance industry. With its Customer Respect Index (CRI) score of 7.5 on
the 10-point scale, Western & Southern Life has once again been awarded an "Excellent Rating", with top-five placings
in each of the five sub-indexes. Western & Southern Life is one of only three life insurance Web sites to receive the
Excellent Rating for online customer respect.
The Customer Respect Group is an international research and consulting firm that focuses on how corporations
treat and respect their online customers. The CRI which is comprised of five sub-indexes, 50 visitor benefit
statements, and 200 objectively measured criteria is designed to identify best practices, online trends,
common practices, and developments within the commercial Web environment. The Customer Respect Group reviews more than 300 Web sites annually
across multiple industries. This collective and continuously-updated knowledgebase provides both an objective
cross-industry benchmark and a unique insight into current and future online requirements as functionality migrates
across industries at a pace driven by customer expectations. Western & Southern Life's Field Training and Development Team Named Among
Global Training Elite Training magazine has ranked Western & Southern Life's field training and development program No. 115 in its 2010
Training Top 125 list of companies. Judging criteria for this award included training tied to business objectives,
employee turnover and retention, leadership development, and evaluation procedures.

For the sixth consecutive year, Western & Southern Financial Group (Western & Southern) is listed
among the top 500 companies in the United States. Fortune magazine’s latest ranking of the largest U.S.
companies lists Western & Southern at No. 441, its best ranking ever and up 39 places over 2008.
Fortune magazine's annual ranking is based on revenue as reported in financial statements for the previous
year. With $5.392 billion in revenue in 2008, Western & Southern is ranked No. 7 among mutual insurance
(life, health) companies and No. 14 among the combined mutual and stock insurance (life, health) companies.
Western & Southern is one of only five companies with headquarters in Cincinnati that made the Fortune 500

The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company Named One of Ward's 50 Top-Performing Insurance Companies
Western & Southern Life was named to the prestigious Ward’s 50 list for the 16th year in a row.
Compiled by the Ward Group, the list includes the 50 top financial performers from among the more than 800 life and
health insurance companies domiciled in the United States. Ward Group is an operational consulting firm and
leading provider of insurance industry benchmarking and best practices services.
To make the list, companies must exceed threshold levels established by Ward’s for surplus and premiums,
adjusted net income, risk-based capital ratio, and compound annual growth in premiums. In addition to passing
these tests, Ward’s 50 companies must rank near the top on several financial performance measures (averaged
over the past five years). These measures include return on average equity, return on average assets, return
on total revenue, growth in revenue, and growth in surplus.
Capital Analysts, Inc., Continues to Rank Among Top 50 Broker-Dealers
by Investment News
The Independent Broker/Dealer Survey in Investment News listed Capital Analysts,
Inc. (CAI), in the Top 50 broker-dealers in three categories. CAI was No. 45 among
advisors producing over $100,000. They ranked at No. 18 for fee revenue and No. 36 for gross revenue, based
on year-end 2007 figures.
