Use the Target Heart Rate Calculator to determine the intensity of your exercise and the
effect on your heart rate. You want to be sure to exercise at a safe rate and not overwork your heart.
Your heart rate is calculated by subtracting your age from 220; the result is your maximum heart rate. For most
healthy people, the American Heart Association recommends an exercise target heart rate ranging from 50 to 75
percent of your maximum heart rate.
What is your age?
Remember that exercise is only one factor related to risk for disease. Consult your healthcare provider if you
have questions or concerns about how your exercise can impact your health.
